Vietnam's timber and wood products exports amounted to approximately US$9 billion in 2018

According to the Vietnam Association of Wood and Forest Products (Vifores), Vietnam has become a wood processing center in Asia.

     Vifores said on March 27th at a seminar on the development prospects of the timber industry in Vietnam that Vietnam’s forest product exports reached US$8 billion in 2017, of which wood and wood products amounted to approximately US$7.7 billion; bamboo, rushes and blankets Up to 300 million U.S. dollars.

     Currently, Vietnam exports wood and wood products to various countries and regions, among which the largest export markets are the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, and the European Union. For the United States, Vietnam exported more than 3 billion U.S. dollars worth of timber and wood products to the market in 2017.

     Vifores Secretary-General Yan Zunquan stated that in 2018 Vietnam’s timber and wood products exports amounted to approximately US$9 billion and it is expected to increase to US$10 billion in the next few years.
